A New Home Print
Written by langeweile

Two weeks have passed since the effective death of Spellborn to us.
Since then, we sat together and discussed where to go... and for now have found a new home - Lord of the Rings Online. While it doesn't support the PvP action many of us are used to and where many others became afraid of us, LotRO still is a good game. It is well rounded and has almost all the qualities concerning PvE Spellborn either had or strived to have, las nice environment, good stories and many possibilities to spend your time as you like. And despite auto-target it provides a surprisingly challenging yet flexible PvE action of all kinds.
But you know that we still urge to PvP, so this may not become our only home. In the future we will likely test Aion, and we will also have a look if Mortal Online keeps its promises or if it's rather just a cloud castle. And we even started looking beyond MMOs, so don't be surprised if you play some Team Fortress 2 and run into a...

... Forsaken Wayfarer !
Yes, we also changed our name. That is for many reasons - the Gods don't fit too well in all games, and Forsaken Wayfarers probably describes the journey of many of us all too well. If you also are left without a home, after Spellborn or for some other reason, let us know - maybe you'll find one here.
A new forum is already online, and an overhaul of the website will follow in due time.

Regards,

Spellborn will turn into F2P in 2010 Print
Written by Borfus
Tuesday, 30 June 2009 13:26

Today the news got out the Spellborn B.V., the company where the devs are working for, is bankrupt and will stop to exist. Frogster already published an announcement that they will take over the development of Spellborn and will adjust it towards an F2P game, to meet the needs of the Asian market.

What will happen to the current devs and their ideas of this game is still uncertain and therefore the heading of this game is unknown as well.

Confirmation that Spellborn B.V. is bankrupt: Here

More news is to be expected later today or within the upcoming days.

2009 Half Year Development Review Print

Dear all,

Borfus wrote a review of the first 6 months of 2009 concerning the development of Spellborn;

The birth of Spellborn

2009 is the first year of the MMO-Game The Chronicles of Spellborn. Now everyone who visits our website knows everything about the game and therefore I will not talk about the good and bad things of the game. One aspect of this game does however bring forth a lot of discussion: The speed of development. Since we are now nearing the end of the first half year of the game it is a good time to look back at what has been created and added to the game since its first release.

The Demon Chest - A Successful Week Print
Written by langeweile

The last week as been extraordinary successful even for our own high standards.
Shortly after the release of the Patch 1.0.4.2, which fixed the drop rates for the Cowardice Key, we were able to loot the Demon Chest. So let's review those days:

  • Tuesday till Thursday: We were able to score the first loot of the Demon Chest, and neither on that day nor the following days anyone opposed our looting.
  • Friday: This time we looted live during the European Webinar and teased the other guilds for their inactivity on stopping us.
  • Saturday: Finally the long held secret of where to find the coveted Cowardice Key slowly made its way around the other guilds. So we actually had quite some opposition and a great fight, which we still won in the end.
  • Sunday: Again we were the only guild to hold a Cowardice Key on that day, but naturally the other guilds got together and tried to stop us at least. Sadly enough even 20 minutes of continous opportunity weren't enough for them to bring down more than one of us at a time or even take the Keys from G'Teku. This prompted them to run respawn-and-suicide attacks without any chance of success, with the only goal of stopping everyone from gaining any loot. But some patient waiting followed by quick action solved even this questionable capitalising of the current Chamber mecanics.
  • Monday: Outnumbered as usual Uzkaela exploited the lack of attention of the others, and quickly secured the loot - Shroud Style.
  • Tuesday: Due RL commitments we did not expect to gain any loot this time. But the rest of the guilds were fierce enough even against each other, so that it took 30 minutes and very high presure in the end to just open the Chest. In the critical moment Daethul snuck in, utilising his innocuous lower level and the fact that many other were Shroud players like him, and ninjad the Chest loot, paling even Uzkaela's feat the day before and clarifying who is the One True Shroudy.

So not only being the first to open the Demon Chest, but despite all problems and opposition maintaining a perfect record through the whole first week is something which makes me truely proud of this guild and my fellow members, each of them contributing in his own way.
